Yindi - The Last Koala? DVD (NTSC)

Running time : approx. 45 minutes          Aspect ratio: 4:3          Regions: All          Format: NTSC

We first meet Yindi as a hairless baby koala suckling his mother's teat in the pouch. There follows a car accident that throws Yindi clear from his mother and Yindi has to be hand reared before Yindi is re-united with mum. We follow all of their wild activities including Yindi emerging from the pouch and exploring the outside world for the first time. The growth and development of Yindi is recorded leading to his final release into the wild. Along the way, we see the other big koala killers such as dog attacks, the effect of expanding housing developments, and the disease of chlamydia. While viewers are led to a very definite conclusion about the future of the koala, the subject is handled in such a way as to leave the viewer feeling that there is hope that koalas can survive in the Australian bush.
